Lemmy's back!!!

I honestly had given up hope.  I couldn't imagine finding him.  And I couldn't be happy to be so wrong!!!  ;)

I had gotten a Facebook message from my neighbor 3 houses down saying they thought that Lemmy was in their garage.  Then I spoke to my neighbor 2 houses down and he mentioned that they thought it was a racoon.  Hearing that, I didn't bother to go down there to check.
I went ahead and got ready for a National Kidney Foundation event that I was going to...all dressed up in my pretty black cocktail dress.  Then I got a knock at the door.  And my neighbor 3 doors down was there, saying that I should come down and look, so I did.  In my pretty dress.

I took one look under the stairs and got excited.  Then I poked him with a hockey stick :) and heard his mournful cry and then I KNEW it was our Lemmy!!! It took a little coaxing, and some disassembly of the neighbor's steps, but my friend Emily and I were able to catch him.  He didn't put up too much of a fight...I'm guessing he was probably pretty weak, hungry and thirsty.

Weirdly enough, his little adventure has left him sweeter than ever.  He's VERY vocal now, and ridiculously snuggly.  I swear that I can't sit down without having him jump in my lap immediately.  He's never more than a few feet away :)

He slept with me the ENTIRE first night :)

See?  Snuggly....

And never far away

I just couldn't be happier.  Seriously...what are the odds?  I'm guessing they're small...maybe this is Karma's way of giving back :)

Little Lemmy

It's been a week now since our little Lemmy has been missing, and I'm losing hope.

Last week, I took the dogs outside before bed, and as usual, I left the door open.  Lemmy usually walks over to the open door, sits on the door step and waits.  As soon as the dogs are done and I turn around, he usually bounds up the stairs.  But that must not have happened.  I honestly have no idea what happened.

The next morning, Izzy and I slept in, and it wasn't until around 11:00am that I saw that his food bowl was still full.  This just doesn't happen.  I called throughout the house...looked everywhere for him, but nothing.  He's very vocal, so if he was in the house, then I would've found him.  I looked outside, but couldn't find him there either.  Sadly, I had an appointment that I had to get to, so I hopped in the car and called Joacim.  He also didn't remember seeing Lemmy in the morning...he just fed him out of habit.

The only thing I can figure is that something spooked him while taking the dogs out, and I went inside my merry way, closed the door, and he was caught outside.  I can only imagine my poor little kitty, outside in the cold, having never even felt snow, and I locked him out in it.

The guilt is overwhelming.  I cried so much on Wednesday that my eyes swelled shut on Thursday morning.  We've looked everywhere, sent emails to our neighbors, even some other neighborhoods are on the lookout.  His food, kitty tower and litter box are outside, but he hasn't come back.  And I'm afraid he never will.  There was a full moon last week, all of the birds came back, and the weather's getting warmer.  He still has his claws, so as long as he's not hungry, I don't imagine we'll see him.  Of course, other monstrosities could have occurred, but I'm blocking that out.

I hope he's one of those cats that show up unexpectedly.  I keep thinking I'm going to see him crossing through the field behind our house.  I swear I have eyestrain from peering out the windows.  I just miss him.

Please come back, buddy.

Psycho kitty

For the first 6 months that we had Lemmy, Izzy only knew him as "Psycho" because that's what Joacim and I called him.  The cat's freaking INSANE sometimes.  Mostly in a good way (until destruction occurs, of course)

This IS the Animal House...

I'll admit that I'm tired of stepping on/over/around little furry creatures that are always underfoot.  I'm tired of cleaning poop/pee/vomit.  I'm not exactly a fan of cleaning kitty litter or dog hair either, but I LOVE all of these little furballs....
Lemmy loves his Tower of Power....he rarely leaves his perch
Murphy and Rosie play-fight like this ALL THE TIME....it's constant, which is great, except when the do it in the tiny are between the coffee table and sofa :)  They aren't exactly the size of chihuahuas or anything..
He still loves soccer balls...looks like a bucking mustang when he plays with them
Rosie's getting a little better about playing tug with Murphy
See what I mean?  How could anyone say no to this face?????  I can't.
Izzy sometimes takes it upon herself to give the dogs treats....which usually ends up being the entire bag
especially when she takes the bag out and empties it on the floor....good for doggies though
and when Lemmy DOES come down, this is what happens.  And now, Murphy and Rosie are ganging up on Lemmy. Murphy thinks he can play with Lemmy like he can with Rosie....I think Lemmy can hold his own still...
I got this blanket at Jill's silent auction at the 5K run/walk, but Rosie's adopted it as her own...
They keep us VERY busy :)

Cuteness from yesterday...

I think we got so lucky in the kitty department.  I mean, granted, Lemmy drives me batty sometimes with his claws and craziness, but I think it's great that he and Murphy can be this close now...

And here's little Boo....singing herself to sleep last night.  OMG...too cute

Another blissful meal at Mug n Bun

Since Joacim was off playing 2 soccer games on Thursday, my friend Missie, Izzy and I went to Mug n Bun for dinner.  Yes, I had another breaded tenderloin (on top of the yummy cheeseburger from Bourbon Street Distillery for lunch...diet's going to hell :) and yes, it was delicious.  And Izzy had another corndog.  She wasn't as much of a fan this time as she was of the ketchup.  It appears as though ketchup can be an entire meal :)

Here's Izzy and Missie.  It took no time at all for Izzy to warm up (finally!).  And now she walks around the house several times a day saying, "Missie?  Missie?"
And then, when we got back home, Izzy had to show Missie her new big-girl bed.  Of course, there was lots of playing involved too
And the evening wouldn't be complete without Missie reading Izzy a book
I love how she curls her little feet when she's focusing :)

Psycho kitty

It looks like he's about to take someone out...

Izzy has a little buddy...

I was SOOO hoping this would happen sometime.  I was looking all over the house for Lemmy, and then I went into her room and saw this....

I can't hardly stand the cuteness.

Some inside playtime....

So I admit it...I haven't exactly been following my own "rules" since Joacim's been gone.  It's ALL about survival, I've realized, and I've had to loosen up a bit.
For example, we had Chick-fil-a for dinner the other night.  Not what I would normally do, but I didn't feel like spending the time trying to come up with something she would eat, not that she'd eaten this before (even though I tried) but I thought I'd try again, and I'm glad I did because it's now something I can add to the "List of Things Izzy Will Eat".  She started out eating my sandwich (LOVES bread) and when that was finished then moved on to her chicken nuggets.  And sweet tea (yes, I know...horrible for her and me but SOOOOOO YUMMY).  Everything in moderation, right?  :)

She's been pulling out the pimp hat lately, and it's awesome.  All of sudden I'll walk out in the living room and there she is, all pimped out.  Apparently she felt that Sleeping Beauty and the Seven Dwarfs were worthy of the pimp hat.

I've started asking Izzy to "smile" for photos, and this is what I get

Lemmy has been sleeping/hiding a LOT. I think he's just relaxed because Murphy isn't here. I keep telling Lemmy to not get too comfy, but I don't think he's listening

I noticed the damage that Lemmy has been inflicting on the furniture during his headworm episodes, so I got him this scratching pad to see if that would temper anything. It's filled with catnip :)

I'm pretty sure Izzy's enjoying this MUCH more than Lemmy

Such a helper....

This was originally a nice and tidy pile of things I needed to shred.  I guess she thought it was necessary to remove everything from the envelopes as well.

I was trying to get her to sing the ABC song, as that's her newest thing, but she was VERY focused on those envelopes.  And I'm sorry to anyone that went deaf from me singing :)

Oh...little Lemmy

This cat is quite an interstesting character.  He seems a bit standoffish sometimes, but then he can be an incredibly snuggly kitty.  This morning, he laid in my arms for a solid 2 hours, purring....He has these crazy spells late in the evening where he runs all over the house, over the furniture, behind curtains, under the bed....he's just a psycho nutball, but we love him nevertheless...EXCEPT when I'm trying to work in the office and here's why:
This damn cat will sit right in front of one of the monitors..every single time.  It doesn't matter how many times I pick him up and put him on the floor...he keeps jumping back up on the desk and sitting in front of the monitor.  The only way to stop this is to lock him out.  Lucky for him he's a cute cat and is constantly forgiven for his idiosynchronies...
