This house NEEDS to be quarantined. Nothing in or out for 2 or 3 days. We are a sick sick sick bunch. It all started almost 2 weeks ago. Izzy went to bed on a Thursday night and complained that there was something in her hair. That's when I discovered this:
Yes, totally gross, but this indicates that the tubes are probably still working. Joacim called the doc that Friday and spoke to the nurse practitioner and they agreed that as long as it was draining and not hurting, we'd leave it alone for now. BIG MISTAKE.
Fast forward to a Wednesday of last week and she's starting to sound like Bonnie Tyler (Total Eclipse of the Heart????) after a night out at the bars. I was working from home on Thursday because my feet were so swollen, so I kept her home with me to get some rest. She started to get a fever, and it just went downhill from there. We ended up taking her to the doctor on Friday and got her some drugs.
Unfortunately, that was probably a little too late. She must've been pretty contagious, because Joacim and I were BOTH feeling it coming on Sunday night...cough, scratchy throat...you name it. He was smart and went to the doctor yesterday AND stayed home today. I am the not-so-smart one and have gone to work and NOT gone to the doctor. I'm in the middle of a project at work, and it's been hard to get away. And I completely regret it. My chest is heavy...it's hard to breathe, my skin hurts, I've got the chills, and I'm coughing like there's no tomorrow. Joacim's still not feeling better, but I think at least Izzy is. Unfortunately, that also means she's got more energy, of which both of us put together can't match. So, she is being babysat by Netflix tonight. It's not a great parenting night, but she's sitting her next to me, quiet (which is MUCH better than the harmonica playing that was going on earlier). Wish us luck (or send a helper!)

Clean house!
Have I mentioned how much I LOVE LOVE LOVE having someone clean my house? I mean....REALLY REALLY LOVE???
Such a nice feeling to walk into a house full of calm and clean...no freaking out about the eventual mess I'll have to clean after everything's done...just...clean. Clean floors, clean sinks, clean shower...CLEAN CLEAN CLEAN CLEAN CLEAN.
Just thought I'd mention that...:)
Oh yeah, and Izzy STILL has an ear infection, so it looks like we might be getting tubes in her ears. We'll have an appointment with the ENT to discuss, but it might be the best thing. I was pretty hesitant about it when we talked to the doctor in April, but since she's had 3 since then, maybe we should be more open to it. And maybe this explains why we had Meltdown Monday, Tantrum Tuesday and Whiney Wednesday...:) Please please please, medicine...kick in!!!

Holy crap...I'm tired...
This is, literally, the first time I've sat on the sofa this evening. And I'm pooped. And I'm not done yet but I just NEEDED a break....just for a minute.
I had delusional visions of grandeur in regards to everything I was going to get done this evening.
But Izzy's been...oh, how shall I say it? Difficult.
It's not her fault, of course...I realize that. Poor thing has a double ear infection, and this one seems to be giving her more issues than normal. It started Friday at daycare....lots of gooey green eye drainage.....YUCK! But when I picked her up she seemed to in a decent mood, so Joacim and I decided to go out to dinner. The wait was a bit longer than we had expected, and she started getting fussy, so I was feeding her every treat I had in my bag of tricks. Between that and the constant wiping of her runny nose, we were going nowhere but downhill....and FAST. Then she opened her mouth as she threw her head back in a tantrum, and that's when I noticed the enormous hold in her upper gum.....MOLARS! This kid has the strangest pattern of teeth coming in...she's got the 4 in front, 3 on the bottom, 1 in her upper right, and I noticed another molar on the left on Sunday. All in all...not such super news for Izzyboo. All of this ended up in a double ear infection by Monday.
So, I GET that she's difficult, but that doesn't necessarily make it any easier to deal with. Is it bad that I can't wait for her bedtime so I can have some quiet? I mean, the WHINING!!! AHHHHHHHHHHHHHHH! I think she's going through a separation anxiety phase right now too. I mean, she's fine when we drop her off in the morning at daycare, but the moment we pick her up in the evening and come home, she pretty much wants to be held the ENTIRE time. And if I'm not holding her, then she's chasing me around the house with her arms in the air, eyes full of tears, nose full of snot....crying. She's gotten pretty dramatic in the tantrum department too. I hope I get this on video pretty soon...she's walking along, and then all of a sudden she drops to her knees, leans back and then throws herself forward on the ground...again, crying. If it wasn't so pathetic it would be hilarious. Such big-girl attitude from such a little thing.
All I can hope for is a better evening tomorrow. Joacim had some training up in Chicago today, so we've been flying solo this evening. Lucky for me I have a hair appointment tomorrow, so Pappa can get ALL THIS FUN!!!! (insert Dr. Evil laughter here ;)

double ear infection and snow day and funny bath!!!
Izzyboo was feeling kinda puny on Sunday, so I stayed home with her on Monday and took her to the doctor, and found out she has a double-ear infection. Now, I'm glad she's the type of kid to just be a little fussy when she's sick...she likes to keep to herself. I guess it's not all that bad...i mean this is only her 2nd confirmed ear infection, so no worries yet.
And, as the trend goes...once Izzy gets sick, then I get sick. This time is no different. I woke up Tuesday morning with the all-too-familiar scratch, sore throat...followed by the nose that is so stuffed that if I were to be kidnapped and duct tape put over my mouth, I would die because not one single molecule of air can get through. I went to work anyway, and took Izzyboo to daycare, but it was an early day. The daycare called and let me know that Izzy wasn't feeling all that great, and we had a big snowstorm on the way, so I left work a little early so I could get her and beat the storm. And I'm so thankful I did!!! We ended up getting almost a foot of snow!!! Here are some photos...

I was then sick with the nasty cold on Wednesday, which is kinda good because there's no way I could've made it out of the garage and through the neighborhood. So, Izzy and I just hung out all day. We did have another little photo session...here are some cute shots:
This is one of my favorites..

And this one too...such a great little smile..

I found these photos too...had completely forgotten that I took them, but too cute not to show...

Izzy is also VERY close to crawling...she's getting close to being mobile, and she's starting to pull herself up on things, as you can see by the following evidence:

This photo is completely overexposed...but you get the idea...
