Haircut!

Izzy's been talking about cutting her hair for the last couple of weeks.  I was so afraid that I had influenced it, because she kept saying things like, "Mommy, I wanna cut my hair short like it was when I was little and you loved it."  Terribly adorable, but also scary because of the influence you have over your little ones without even knowing it.

She and I talked about it, and I let her know that I love her and her hair no matter what.  I felt like this was another one of those teachable moments for her, and by that I mean it was an opportunity to help her understand that she isn't defined by what she looks like...especially the length of her hair.  I mean, if she doesn't like it, she can always grow it back, right?  I'm a little ramble-y here, but I want to remember what I was thinking during this time 20 years from now :)

I'm so glad I didn't try to talk her out of this.  She looks so happy!!!

Izzy's new 'do

I finally did it.  After months of an internal debate, I finally cut Izzy's hair.  She's had plenty of haircuts, but THIS one was mayjah!

A few "before" shots

And getting her hair washed.  This was the first time she actually did this all by herself!

And since she was sooo good, I promised her a treat, so she was off to collect her goodies :)

Yikes.  That was painful to watch the first sweep of Amber's scissors, but after that it was all good.
Again, thank God for the iPhone.  She was having hard time understanding  what we meant by "look down", and this helped immensely.
I was truly worried that she was going to freak out AFTER she was all done, but judging by her smile, I think she likes it, and so do we :)

Haircut

Time for another haircut!  Thank goodness Amber found some fruit roll-ups!  This was the first time that she experienced the shampoo bowl, and I can safely say that she's not a fan.....yet.

Visit from Grandma, Grandpa and Aunt Bri

My parents and little sister stopped by last Friday for a quick visit. Luckily, it didn't take Izzy too long to warm up! Aunt Bri has a way with her!
We tried to get her to put her tutu on her waist, but she hated it, so we then tried her head

And she thought that was a lot of fun!

And with Grandpa

Unfortunately they didn't get to stay longer, but we're going to try to get Aunt Bri to spend the weekend with us soon!
Once everyone left, I got Izzy in her jammies and put her hair up sumo-style

I took these photos of her in the bathroom. She had been hiding in there for a good 5 minutes or so, and I think I surprised her with the camera flash!

Izzy's first haircut

I had a haircut scheduled today, so we decided to get Izzy's cleaned up a bit too. I never would've done this if it weren't for the fact that she was completely annoyed with her hair on our walk the other day...kinda felt sorry for her :) She was a pretty good customer, although she wasn't quite sure about the whole experience. Luckily, no tears!!!

It's funny...I thought I would get all worked up over getting her hair cut, and feel that it was some momentous occasion, and I guess it is, but it's all a part of her growing up. I mean, LOOK AT HER!!! She's sooooo big now! Walking, jabbering...getting haircuts now!! Whew..hard to believe it's been almost a year since this little creature entered our lives!
