Mutt Strutt 2009

We had the wonderful opportunity to participate in this year's Mutt Strutt. For those of you not familiar with this, essentially the Indianapolis Motor speedway becomes the biggest dog park for a few hours, and all proceeds benefit the Humane Society. According to the Humane Society of Indianapolis' website:

"Mutt Strut was a smashing success, with over 8,000 people & pooches in attendance and well over $350,000 raised to benefit HSI!"

And, I gotta tell ya, it was a lot of fun! We (okay, maybe me a little more than Joacim) were really worried about how Murphy would react with all of those dogs. Some dogs just trigger the worst in him, while others he enjoys playing with. We knew it would be a crap-shoot, but we really wanted to try. And you know what???? He was PERFECT! A little excited barking as we were parking in the infield, when he noticed all of the other dogs in cars, but after that he was great. Well behaved, he listened and trotted around that track like the proudest little pooch.

The organization of this event was top-notch, with plenty of doggie "pit stops" with water and pools for cooling off. Thankfully for all of us the clouds were out most of the time which helped Murphy out a bunch! As with every post, I've got some photos to share..

Just getting on the track

2 ENORMOUS great danes...right before we took this photo, the one sitting on the track was splayed out, and I swear he must've been 10 feet long!

Just starting off...

Man and his best friend...

Looking back at the starting line

First pit stop

Taken from the top of the track at turn 1. I can't believe how hard it was to walk up here, especially with Izzy's stroller...

Joacim and Izzy after turn 1 (I had Murphy with me)

2nd pit stop...I love this photo because you can almost see Murphy trotting, and it's great how he's looking at Joacim...too cute

Back straightaway

Izzy's pit stop :)

Looks like she might be over her aversion to grass...as long as she has something to put in her mouth (in this case, a packet of Kleenex)...

I swear, if this shouldn't get us free snacks from Gerber, I don't know what would. I mean, she's a walking advertisement! :)

Enjoying our break

Ok, too cute for any more words...

Side note...Izzy had a littel boo boo on Friday evening...faceplant into our patio...here's the result

Joacim took this photo of this little girl and her little dog...I wish I knew who these people were so we could send it to them..

Coming into the home stretch

Our family on the "Yard of Bricks". LOVE this photo!!!

Thanks for checking in!
